Walmart Announces Plans to Hire 20,000 People Throughout Its Supply Chain

Walmart Inc. is ramping up its employment efforts in preparation for the impending holiday shopping season.

In more than 250 Walmart and Sam's Club distribution sites, fulfillment centers, and transportation offices, the big-box retailer announced Wednesday that it aims to hire an extra 20,000 permanent full-time and part-time workers across its supply chain.

The jobs will help support expansion across the organization, according to the corporation, which recently experienced another record-breaking quarter.

Walmart has announced that it would hold hiring events on September 8 and 9 to fill positions like as order fillers, freight handlers, lift drivers, technicians, and management. According to the business, supply chain employees will earn an average of $20.37 per hour.

Walmart also plans to invest in six new Walmart Academies, which will offer associates classroom and on-the-job training in specialized supply chain competencies as well as soft skills like leadership, communication, and change management.
